The low cost of servers has fueled a proliferation of infrastructure at locations remote from IT system administration and support staff. While the widespread deployment of servers is an effective way to provide remote processing capabilities and reduced reliance on centralized services it is often a nightmare for IT support staff.
While many administrative and support tasks can be easily accomplished remotely when a server hangs and no longer responds to system management tools IT support staff has typically had few options available. Unfortunately the two most common options involve considerable expense.
