Server Management for the Data Center

Datacenters are evolving rapidly with higher density, lights out operation and increased physical access control, insulating the physical devices from the system administrators who manage them. When a server hangs and can’t be accessed by system management tools what’s the fall back?

Traditionally the answer has been to implement out of band hardware (KVMs and PDUs), enabling system administrators to access servers remotely. Alternatively equipment manufacturers offer service processor based solutions for managing only their hardware

These options may work but are hardly cost effective.

What Companies are Saying

  • In an average month we probably spend more than 12-16 hours tracking down a physical server to initiate a power recycle/re-boot sequence. With Tenduit, we could do this rapidly from our NOC, it would be ideal.
